Mario Castillo

Mario Castillo, born and raised in Houston, TX, obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Texas A&M University in 2008. After graduation, Mario worked the 2008 election cycle as a Field Organizer in Green Bay, WI. He then attended Texas A&M Health Science Center School for Rural Public Health where he obtained his Master’s in Public Health with a concentration in Healthcare Policy & Management. While a grad student he was active in the student chapter of the Medical Group Management Association (MGMA) where he served a President and went on to help found the local Brazos Valley MGMA chapter. After grad school he then began an internship with the Department of Health and Human Services Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, working on the Protection and Advocacy for Individuals with Mental Illness Program.
Mario returned to campaign work in 2012 when he worked as a Regional Field Director in Ohio for Organizing for America. Upon returning to Texas Mario served as the Deputy State Director for Enroll America, a non-profit dedicated to the education and implementation of the Affordable Care Act. In 2016 he returned to Houston to serve District H Councilmember Karla Cisneros as her Chief of Staff. After working in local government Mario joined the Houston Health Department as a Staff Analyst with the Informatics Department working to bring health data and analytics to communities across the city. Mario currently serves as the Executive Director of the Your Houston. In his free time, he enjoys managing a local softball team, exploring cultures around the globe, and enjoying time with his dog Parker.
